SUPPORT US

Our needs

Receiving very limited gorvernment funding, we rely on all and any generosity of donors. Our basic needs:

Medicine

There is constant need for bandages, medical instruments, painkillers, drugs).Essential drugs are given by the government.

Food

The costs of feeding the patients obviously depends on their number admitted in the Hospital. The bed capacity is 115  in total .The hospital has an In- patient service that needs to feed patients that are admitted in the hospital. The duration of stay in the hospital depends on the type of illness of the patient the following are the examples food staffs that we need for the needs of the patients:
Meat, Beans, Soya pieces, Eggs, Milk, Bread, Salt, Sugar, Cooking oil, Vegetables, Mealie meal.

Equipment

There are lots of items and furniture for patients needed to be replaced regularly. Linen (bed sheets, blankets), mattresses, beds, drip stands, bed screens, bed lockers. Most of the furniture are rusted or partly broken.

Fuel-transport

There are lots of items and furniture for patients needed to be replaced regularly. Linen (bed sheets, blankets), mattresses, beds, drip stands, bed screens, bed lockers. Most of the furniture are rusted or partly broken.

Vehicile

Maintenance of vehicles to keep the cars well and running. To keep special function of ambulances as emergency car, the hospital would need to be provided with the utility vehicle.

Chemicals

To keep the environment sterile and safe the hospital needs disinfectants, washing fluids and utensils, like buckets, brooms, mops etc.

Administration

The running cost of the offices (paper, folders, pens, ink, etc.)

Social service

Patients admitted in St Luke’s hospital come from rural area around the village. Some of them have to walk …km distance to get medical help. There are a lot of people in need of transport money were the vehicle is able to reach, that will make them able to come back home after discharge.

In case of death of the patient, hospital helps some of the poor family with funeral costs. (including coffin’s cost, digging, burring the dead and family transport back to the village).

Some of mothers, after delivery they need baby’s clothes, some can’t breastfeed. Social service budget helps them by providing baby formula for the newborns.

Fuel-Electricity

We are connected to the national grid that provides electricity, however we do experience power cuts and hence the need of fuel for the smooth running of the Hospital in different departments like Lab , fridges and the sterilization of medical instruments which must be done on generator’s power.
